I took a bit of a hiatus there without really meaning to.
Just to update y’all…we had a lot going on last week! Ryan took his last week of paternity leave at work so we spent a lot of quality time together. Then, my family all arrived from Pennsylvania to help us celebrate Macie’s first birthday and because of that, I spent a lot of last week getting caught up on work for my other two jobs and unfortunately, I just didn’t have any time left over to get a post or two up. If you kept up on my Instagram, I did share a little bit of what we did the last week or so!
But, I’m back today to share with y’all how we celebrated our sweet Macie Claire for her first birthday!
A little back story here: my oldest niece, Skylar, just turned 7 in March. When she turned one, and my brother and sister-in-law were deciding on a theme, I began dreaming up what kind of first birthday party I’d like to throw for a future baby of my own. Years ago, I had seen a photo on Pinterest that showed a little birthday girl wearing a yellow tutu and a white onesie that said “You Are My Sunshine”. This whole idea stemmed from that one little photo all those years ago. It was so special to be able to execute that theme for my little girl.
My sister made this adorable banner , the cup with that adorable little decal (and a matching one for me!)
She and I teamed up to do these cute cookies! I think they came out so good and they were delicious!
These little suns were such a cute little addition to pull the theme into the food!
As far as food and drink goes, here’s what we had on the menu:
- Chicken Salad on Croissants
- Rotel Sausage Dip with tortilla chips
- Chick-Fil-A copycat chicken nuggets (these are from Sam’s and they’re amazing!)
- Pasta Salad (my mom’s recipe)
- Pumpkin Cupcakes with Maple Cream Cheese Frosting
- Lemon Cupcakes with Raspberry Buttercream Frosting
- Iced tea, pink lemonade and I made a pitcher of mimosas for the grown-ups 😉
My sweet friend Melissa made this beautiful sign for the party and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out! It really pulled the theme all together!
I cannot believe my sweet girl is an entire year old! This past year flew by and I don’t know where the time went! Watching her grow has been the greatest blessing I could ever imagine and getting to celebrate her was such a joy!
